Christina Sheely, DO

From a young age, Orthopaedic Surgeon Christina Sheely, D.O., always knew she wanted to be a doctor. But it wasn’t until – like the many athletes she treats now – she underwent knee surgery during high school inspired her to choose a path forward in healthcare as an orthopaedic surgeon.

 

“As a surgeon, I love being able to really help my patients get back to their daily lives by performing a wide range of different procedures – from minimally invasive ankle operations to full-scale joint replacements,” says Dr. Sheely. “I love figuring out how to really help people put things back together – not just with orthopaedic issue, but with how they can enjoy living their lives.”

 

Dr. Sheely believes that creating an environment of open and clear communication with her patients is the best way to make sure that they are successful, and that their treatment is effective.

 

“I try to discuss their general health and give them advice on how to have healthy joints and avoid injury,” explains Dr. Sheely. “My practice is about getting my patients back out there – on the field with teammates, in the backyard playing with grandkids – and that looks different for each person that comes into my office. By getting to know them on a personal level, I can better understand their goals and what is important to them. Then, we can work better toward those goals, together.”

 

Dr. Sheely is dedicated to her practice and her patients, and that’s evident in the care she provides every day.

 

“I am always trying to improve my skills and knowledge,” says Dr. Sheely, “and I stay up to date on the latest on new procedures and medical news because I want to be able to provide the very best experience possible for anyone that trusts me with their care.”

 

Dr. Sheely received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas before earning her medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She performed her residency in Orthopedic Surgery at St. Elizabeth Mercy and St. Joseph Hospitals in Youngstown, Ohio.

 

When she is not working, she enjoys reading, working out, and crafts, as well as spending time with her husband and their blended family of 7 adult children.
